Energy saving tips for the Holiday Season

Written by Evelyn Alas

The arrival of the holiday season makes people spend more time at home, especially this year when it must be extremely responsible because of the pandemic.

If you maintain a responsible and intelligent attitude in energy consumption, you will be able to enjoy the holidays with Christmas lighting included, without being billed for the electrical excesses.

Switch from traditional lights to LED lights

It's not about giving up the luminous decoration of the tree, your balcony or the Nativity scene, but finding efficient alternatives that consume a minimum of energy such as LED lights.

Although this type of bulbs is usually a little more expensive than conventional bulbs, they are also much more efficient than conventional bulbs. LED lights consume up to 80% less energy than traditional lights.

When you are not at home unplug

Leave your tree lights or holiday decorations on at night? If you think about it, it doesn't make much sense. It's like leaving the TV or dining room light on. You would be wasting electricity for nothing. So, if you're going to sleep or won't be home, unplug all those holiday items. This small gesture also helps you save on your electric bill.

Choose green energy to light your Christmas

By doing so, you help take care of the planet with cleaner energy from renewable sources such as the sun or wind.

Use gadgets to increase your energy efficiency

Gadgets will help you improve your home's energy efficiency and save on electricity: a timer that regulates the switching on and off of equipment, an electricity consumption meter to know how much each appliance uses, or a motion detection device that turns off lights and electronics when you leave a room.
