Assembly approves funding for Instituto Salvadoreño del Café

A reform to the nation's budget, approved by 73 deputies, was approved to incorporate US$4,038,105 to the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISC). These funds will allow it to begin operations and comply with its institutional goals and objectives, aimed at promoting the development of the coffee sector, which will benefit more than 25 thousand producers.

Likewise, the operation of the ISC will allow improving the production and quality of coffee, reducing the costs of the process, being resilient in the face of climate vulnerability and positioning the country among the best coffee producing nations.

"Every year the coffee park has been modernized and with these funds the institute will support coffee producers and this will help to mobilize the country's economy", assured the parliamentarian Ricardo Rivas.

By means of legislative decree number 206, dated november 9, 2021, the Law for the Creation of the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café was approved, in article 1 it establishes the creation of said organization, in an autonomous manner of public law, of technical and scientific character.

In addition, it is the governing body for scientific research, technology transfer, innovation and training in the coffee sector, which will be related to the Executive Branch, through the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG).

In the area of salaries, US$1,238,105 will be allocated to finance a total of 88 positions; while in the area of procurement of goods and services an amount of US$1,000,000 is programmed.

In the area of investments in fixed assets, resources of up to US$1,8000,000 are included for the acquisition of furniture and basic, laboratory and computer equipment.
