Congress authorized incorporating US$40 million to MAG

The deputies of the Legislative Assembly approved, with 63 votes, reforms to the Budget Law 2024 to incorporate US$40 million to the Agriculture and Livestock branch, so it can have the resources and thus continue the delivery of agricultural packages.

The proposal seeks to alleviate the economic effects, at the national level, generated by the increase in agricultural inputs in the world. In addition, the decree establishes that, due to the high demand of basic grains producers, it is necessary to continue providing budgetary coverage to the Agricultural Packages program through the delivery of certified corn seed, Triple 15 fertilizer and seed treater.

The implementation of this program will continue to benefit a total of 560 thousand farmers throughout the country. The parliamentarians explained that the funds come from a surplus registered with the Treasury in income obtained through the Income Tax (ISR) and the Tax on the Transfer of Movable Goods and Services (VAT), which allows for sufficient financial availability to cover the needs.
