The Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), indicated that in 2020, 72% of the energy demanded in the country will be covered by renewable energies, of which geothermal energy represents 24.3%; hydroelectric energy 29.84%; 10.23% corresponds to biomass and 8.48% to solar photovoltaic, which has allowed El Salvador to be one of the countries that has taken accelerated steps in the investment of renewable energy projects in Central America.

ASI is aware that energy is a fundamental element of development. In addition, this makes possible investments, innovation and new industries that are the engines of job creation and growth of economies.

That is why the Association of Industrialists will hold the eighth edition of the Regional Energy Congress, COREN 2021, which seeks to encourage the productive sector to optimize the use of energy resources, develop technical capabilities and learn about the current status of the regional and international energy market in the new environment and the challenges that this entails.

For the second time and as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, COREN which will be held from August 25 to 27, will be developed through the Zoom platform, and will mainly address topics focused on exposing the new applications, trends and regulatory standards of the regional electricity market and its impact on the country and the industry; to learn about the latest trends in Renewable Energy and analyze case studies of projects implemented with renewable resources and their impact on industrial development in different countries, and to encourage and promote best practices in Energy Management programs in the productive sector through innovation, digitization and energy efficiency.

COREN has established itself as the most important energy event in Central America and the Caribbean, so El Salvador has positioned itself as a leader in this area.
