MINEC appoints new Vice Minister of Economy

The Central Government yesterday afternoon appointed Mario Rodolfo Salazar Escobar as Vice Minister of Economy, who will replace Miguel Angel Corleto Urey, former Vice Minister of the Ministerio de Economía (MINEC).

The new Vice Minister Salazar will be working with the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, in the elaboration of policies and law proposals that will improve economic conditions and in actions that will lead the country to greater competition in investments and participation in international markets.

Mario Salazar has a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Sciences from the Universidad de El Salvador, with a Master's Degree in Private Law. He is a lawyer and notary with 21 years of experience in the public and private sector.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the Vice Minister served for 2 years as advisor of the Office of the Ministry of Economy and was for 9 years as Negotiator of the Direction of Commercial Policy of the same Ministry.

He has also participated in the negotiation of some Trade Agreements, among them: Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Central America (CA) and South Korea, CA-Mexico FTA, the protocol of Incorporation of Panama to the Central American Economic Integration Subsystem, II Protocol to the Treaty on Investment and Trade in Services between the Republics of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, among others.
