"The economic measures implemented by our Government have been key for us to be one of the countries least affected by inflation at a regional level", said the head of the Ministerio de Economía (MINEC).

According to information from the Consejo Monetario Centroamericano, El Salvador is the country with the second lowest price variation in the region, after Costa Rica.

The annual inflation rate as of june 2023 is 3.78 %. "Without the support and accompaniment given to us by the Legislative Assembly it would have been impossible to have the necessary tools to execute the economic measures", said minister Hayem.

A recent example is the extension of the subsidy policy for the purchase of gas until may of next year, with the respective vote of the deputies. This measure is to help households and subsistence businesses, among others.

In this same sense, surveillance is another task that helps to avoid abuses by suppliers. The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) is in charge of verifying that propane gas and fuel sales establishments comply with the appropriate prices and provide the service as it corresponds: quality, volume, weight.

On the same subject, energy will remain stable for the quarter from july 15 to october 15. To achieve this, the State absorbed US$30 million of the increase in energy in the suppliers' segment.
