The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker; the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez; the director of Migration Ricardo Cucalón; and the deputy legal director of Customs, Raúl Medrano, launched the New Year's Eve Attention Plan 2023, which is designed to serve international tourists and compatriots living abroad who come to spend the holidays in the country.

The minister of Tourism said that El Salvador, as of october of this year, has become the fourth country in the world in tourism growth, reporting a 32%. This positions it as leader in Central America, surpassing Costa Rica and Panama. He also referred to the projection of visitors at the end of this year.

"We have a projection of 3.2 million visitors by december 2023, equivalent to $3.6 billion in foreign exchange income, making us the leading country in the Central American region in terms of visitor income, surpassing Costa Rica and Panama", Valdez explained.

This plan is effective as of november 28 and will expire on january 15, 2024,

According to the head of CEPA, there will be personnel from the Academia Nacional de Seguridad Pública and managers from the Vice Ministry of Transportation, who will be distributed in the different public areas. In addition, the number of security agents at inspection points and X-ray equipment will be increased. 

The strategy also includes a rescue and firefighting team, composed of 68 aeronautical firefighters, four fire trucks, three ambulances and medical personnel.

"Today, we are launching the airport's New Year's Eve 2023 Plan, which is made up of more than 1,600 people from the different institutions that work together at this air terminal", said Anliker.
