The head of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker has announced that the Ilopango Airport will have an intervention in its facilities to be able to receive more people in the coming months.

Anliker mentioned that new VIP areas will be built, as well as new conference rooms and rest rooms in the air terminal, which is currently dedicated to receive private flights. The official mentioned that through this point of entry they receive businessmen and people who come to the country in their own airplanes, so they want to improve the reception experience in the place.

The inauguration of the new passenger terminal at the airport is expected to take place in december, which will help to attend in a more polite way the increase of visitors to this point of entry to the country, which has increased by 25% compared to last year.

It is expected that approximately US$300 million will be invested in this project, which will serve to stimulate the economy of the eastern part of the country. The financing of this new project is also under study, but CEPA's president has assured that the project is on track.
