CEPA: First quarter El Salvador's international airport handled 1.3 million passengers

Through social networks The Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), gave the results of the first quarter of 2024, regarding the flow of passengers at the International Airport of El Salvador which has had an increase of 40% compared to last year.

The Aeropuerto San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez has handled more than 1.3 million arriving, departing and connecting passengers, which represents a 40% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

By the end of 2023, more than 4.5 million passengers had flown through the airport, the highest figure recorded since the terminal began operations, according to the autonomous agency.

The months with the highest passenger movement in 2023 were december (10.6%), followed by july (10.3%) and november (9.5%).

For the 2024 Easter high season, which runs from march 22 to april 5. Passengers projected to serve more than 240 thousand, with a daily average of 16 thousand arriving, departing and connecting travelers. This is an increase of 30% compared to the year 2023.

CEPA is also expanding the check-in area at El Salvador's international airport, with the aim of increasing the capacity of 41 double counters with a capacity for 82 positions, which is 33% complete and represents an investment of US$12 million.
