The Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI) is organizing the fourth edition of the Regional Congress on Environmental Sustainability, CRESA.

This year's high-level specialized event is called: "Transforming today's challenges for tomorrow's sustainable industries", which will include the participation of prominent international and national speakers who will share experiences, and deepen in topics with a special focus on Industrial Sustainability, Circular Economy, Climate Change and Water Resources Management.

For more than a decade ASI has been leading the agenda on environmental issues with emphasis on industry, and efforts focused on sustainability, as they are crucial to address the environmental and social challenges we face in the country, the region and the world. Every year, more companies join and commit to this important issue, showing their capacity and commitment to evolve towards a more sustainable future.

Salvadoran industry has made significant progress in sustainability, waste management, environmental certifications, innovation in clean technologies, and community development, and this reflects the commitment of companies to environmental protection and sustainable development.  The Asociación Salvadoreña seeks to contribute, through different actions, to all efforts directed towards sustainability and the construction of resilient and sustainable economic systems.

About the Congress

The main axes of CRESA are the development of sustainable management, circular economy with emphasis on water resources and green finance. Likewise, the main topics to be developed are focused on industrial sustainability, regional sustainability, the use of water resources, green entrepreneurship, among others.

This year and for the fourth time, ASI has taken the initiative to recognize the efforts of companies, organizations and individuals by presenting the Earth Trust Awards, with which it publicly honors exemplary individuals and companies and leaders in the protection of the environment through the actions they take.

National and international specialists and experts will participate in the Regional Congress on Environmental Sustainability, and we will also have the presence of government officials who will address issues that have an impact on the country. CRESA will be attended by the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Fernando López, who will speak on COP28: measuring progress and challenges in the conservation of ecosystems. The President of the Autoridad Salvadoreña del Agua (ASA), Jorge Castaneda, will also address the topic: Strengthening alliances for a circular economy in efficient water management; as well as the president of ANDA, Rubén Alemán, who will discuss the topic: Advancing towards sustainable water security.

Among the international and national experts that will be part of CRESA are: Paul Kohl, from the Water Department of Philadelphia, USA. who will present Technologies for the development of the circular economy of water in industrial processes; Agata Krause Expert in sustainable urban development for UN Habitat, with the theme: Fulfilling the 2030 Agenda through a Local Voluntary Report (VLR); Evelyn Amaro, representative of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office UK, who will talk about Climate Diplomacy and the green agenda for Latin America; Diego Recalde Representative of FAO in El Salvador, with the presentation: The effect of climate change on agriculture in the Central American Dry Corridor, among other speakers.

With CRESA, the association seeks to generate industrial cooperation with strategic support to promote and foster the development of sustainability and efficient use of natural resources and at the same time promote the exchange of experiences among various international and national organizations focused on sustainable management.

CRESA includes keynote lectures, forums and networking opportunities for participants. It will be held on february 28 and 29 at the Sheraton Presidente Hotel.
