MITUR expects US$6 million in foreign exchange from World Surfing Championship

El Ministerio de Turismo  (MITUR), informed that it expects more than US$6 million will be mobilized in the tourism sector in the department of La Libertad from may 27 to thursday, june 5, dates in which La Bocana and El Zunzal will become the scenarios of the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2022.

In these scenarios will participate 406 athletes from 44 countries and there are more than 200 people who will be behind the scenes as technicians, journalists, doctors and nutritionists to better develop the event.

The head of Tourism, Morena Valdez, affirmed that since January they have achieved more than US$700 in foreign currency from international tourism.

This event ratifies the international confidence and they seek to bet on security, tourism and sports, as well as the tourism infrastructure that contribute to the transformation of the country's image.

In a press conference, the Ministry of Tourism together with representatives of the International Surfing Association (ISA), the el Instituto Nacional de los Deportes de El Salvador (INDES) and the Federación Salvadoreña de Surf (FESASURF), declared to be ready to inaugurate the most competitive youth event worldwide.

The articulated work between the institutions of the Cabinet of Tourism in the last months has allowed dealing in an agile way with the adaptations and infrastructure in the venue of the event. More than 500 inmates in the trust phase of the Plan Cero Ocio have participated in the different cleaning days.
