According to the authorities of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganaderia (MAG), for the current 2022 cycle, the coffee production forecast is 872,760 quintals, an increase of 10.3% compared to the 2020-2021 period.

Also, for the first time, producers are receiving agricultural inputs adapted to the harvest stage. The MAG has already made a first delivery of foliars before the rainy season started.

With the winter season established, MAG will begin the second delivery of inputs for coffee growers.

Moreover, coffee growing is an activity that generates benefits to other productive activities such as tourism, groundwater collection, environmental protection and employment throughout the agricultural and marketing chain.

This year, the Cup of Excellence contest resulted in four Presidential Awards, a prestigious recognition for coffees that achieve a score of over 90 in Cup of Excellence.

The first three places in the contest achieved this high score, surpassing all the expectations of the national and international juries that participated.

In this edition, the varieties that stood out the most were Pacas, Pacamara and Bourbon, according to the Consejo Salvadoreño del Café (CSC).

From may 24 to 27, a jury of international specialists evaluated the 40 selected samples and assigned scores; these scores from the cuppings allowed the election of the best coffees of our country.
