The government of El Salvador has bet on increasing tourism in the country, in order to attract foreign exchange to the State's coffers, so in order to make more of the national territory known to foreigners, the Miss Universe contest was held to attract more attention from the world.

The objective of this bet has already had its achievements, according to the minister of Tourism Morena Valdez. According to the official, the country received around 65,000 visitors during the weeks in which the candidates to win Miss Universe were in El Salvador, which left as final income in foreign currency a total of more than US$179 million dollars.

"It was reported 100% full in accommodations, restaurants, plus our tour guides were at 100%, tour operators, recreational sites and obviously entertaining. It has been a good result", declared Valdez who also recalled that this Miss Universe broke a record of visits according to the organization of the event.

Authorities have mentioned that they will continue building more infrastructure to be able to continue receiving more tourists interested in visiting the country, besides more events of different types will be held, which will allow attracting more international public willing to invest their money in El Salvador.
