The country is increasingly becoming a tourist attraction of great interest for foreigners, due to the work that has been done in recent years, these strategies have yielded positive results both in social development and in the economic sector for the benefit of the population.

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, provided the figures of foreign visitors received up to the penultimate month of 2023. She stated that up to november, 3 million visitors were registered, equivalent to more than US$3,600 million in foreign exchange income.

Going from 5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019 to 10%. In other words, an increase of 5 percentage points.

The official said that by the end of this year, the creation of 300,000 direct and indirect jobs is projected throughout the value chain in the entire tourism sector, such as food, lodging, transportation, recreation, information, including guides and travel agencies.

To continue developing the sector, Valdez stated that they are betting on the improvement of infrastructure in tourist destinations, road rehabilitation and the specialization of human talent, since the country is hosting regional and world events, such as Miss Universe and surfing tournaments.
