Written by Karla Gutiérrez

Teams from the Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) are performing maintenance at the Central Hidroeléctrica Cerrón Grande, in order to guarantee the supply of electricity to all of El Salvador.

CEL is replacing obsolete equipment that has reached the end of its useful life in said plant, with the purpose of improving the electricity service and avoiding serious failures in the future.

Equipment installed an innovative stainless steel pumping system, which will allow more efficient evacuation of water from the tank located in the sump pit. This new equipment avoids stagnation and guarantees that the water used to generate energy is evacuated out of the powerhouse.
