CEL to invest US$3 million to carry out the Annual Major Maintenance Program in all its hydroelectric power plants

The Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL), informed that it will invest US$3 million to continue with the Annual Maintenance Program in all hydroelectric power plants.

Likewise, in social networks, the institution informed that it continues to comply with the Biennial Maintenance Program 2024, in the Central Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre.

The purpose of this is to optimize the performance and reliability of the facilities to ensure a safe and sustainable electricity supply.

Taking advantage of the dry season, preventive maintenance is being performed on the mechanical, electrical and structural components of unit number 2, which includes a detailed inspection of the turbine, generator, speed regulator, rotor, stator, generator shaft, fire protection system and intake.

"With this maintenance, we want our hydroelectric power generation machines to be renewed and in optimal conditions to guarantee this important resource during the rainy season", said CEL's president, Daniel Álvarez.

Fifty collaborators from the electrical and mechanical departments of the Central Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre are participating in this maintenance work.
