The president of the autonomous agency, Federico Anliker, explained to the deputies that the current law was created in 1965 and has become obsolete. He argued that the development, design, construction and operation of strategic projects, as well as new public infrastructure, require organic laws of state institutions in accordance with the new realities and needs.
The new law will provide the institution with tools aligned with current needs and operations, facilitating the autonomous institution's tasks. Anliker added that the regulatory body, which consists of 50 articles, seeks to attract new investors.
The homologation of this law with the current regulations will facilitate the development of new lines of business within the airport, port, maritime and railway activities.
"We need a new law that is modern, efficient, visionary, practical and properly regulated and audited. We want to make logistics in our country more efficient in terms of infrastructure", said the head of CEPA.
The president of the Public Works Commission, Salvador Chacón, said that the new law will optimize air, maritime and international rail transport services. He said that the working group concluded that it is a competitive legal framework, which will allow El Salvador to have a greater participation in global trade.
