1.8 million salvadorans and foreigners have traveled through the national airport terminal

From january 1st to july 17th, 2022, Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez has handled 1.8 million travelers entering and leaving the country.

According to the statistical records of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), a total of 1 million 852 thousand 729 people between salvadorans and citizens of other nationalities have transited through the air terminal in 19 thousand 388 commercial passenger flights.

CEPA points out that this high volume of inbound, outbound and transit passengers are the result of the operations of 12 major airlines that connect El Salvador with 29 destinations in 13 countries.

Anliker held a meeting with the regional director of the Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI), for North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Melvin Cintron, with whom he discussed issues of sustainable development of salvadoran aviation.

The head of CEPA explained to the OACI representative, that the institution has implemented various actions for the recovery of the aviation industry in the country after the COVID 19 pandemic, and has also created incentives for more airlines to operate in the terminal.

During the meeting, Anliker explained to the OACI regional director that the inter-institutional work has allowed El Salvador to become the most visited destination in Latin America during the first quarter of 2022.
