ASI to discuss energy sector conditions and challenges at COREN 2023

The Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales inaugurated the tenth edition of the Congreso Regional de Energía, COREN 2023, a meeting that brings together specialists and experts from more than 24 countries that will analyze and discuss various topics of interest to the industrial sector of El Salvador and the Central American region.

 

 

ASI, through COREN, seeks to encourage the productive sector to optimize the use of energy resources, develop technical capabilities and expand knowledge about the regional and international energy market.

For industrialists, energy is key for the sustainable development of a nation because it has a positive impact on the competitiveness of countries, especially in industry. At the same time, it enables investments, innovation and new industries that are the engines of job creation and growth of economies.

Tenth edition COREN

COREN has established itself as the most important energy event in Central America and the Caribbean, so El Salvador has positioned itself as a leader in this area.

The meeting will be attended not only by national participants but also from the Central American region, who have the opportunity to learn about the present and future challenges of the sector, cutting-edge technologies and trends for the Regional Electricity Market, the Integration of Renewable Energy, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Energy Digitalization, Electromobility, among other topics.

The tenth edition of the Congress addresses topics focused on the Regional Electricity Market analyzing the energy prospects in Latin America for 205, emerging renewable energies, the future of the Regional Electricity Market, the participation of Industrial Consumers in the Regional Electricity Market, the impact of Natural Gas in the Salvadoran Energy Matrix and in the region, the prospects for the expansion of generation in the region, Geothermal, Natural Gas and non-conventional renewables, among others.

COREN's second day will focus on Renewable Energies in which the priorities and investment needs for the energy transition, the mobilization of financial resources to support the energy transition, development of green hydrogen in Latin America, Clean Energy Certificates and carbon credits market, Net Zero: Implementing strategies for decarbonization, potential productive uses of natural gas, renewable generation in the wholesale market, distributed generation and its impacts, among others, will be developed.

Energy management is the axis that will be developed in the third day of COREN with topics such as: Energy management for industrial competitiveness, energy transition through the global network of sustainable energy centers, electromobility and impact of the types of chargers in the distribution network / Alternatives for maintenance of electric vehicles, digitalization of industrial substations: Energy Management and Predictive Maintenance, Geothermal favorability maps at regional level and applications of direct use of geothermal energy in pilot projects in the Central American region, financial mechanisms for energy efficiency and renewable energy, and others.

At COREN 2023 we will take the discussion on energy issues to the highest level with experts such as: Andrés Rebolledo Smitmans, Secretary General of OLADE; Gurbuz Gonul, Director of Country Support and Partnerships of IRENA; Andrea Eras Almeida, international consultant in the Department of Energy of ONUDI; Werner Vargas, Secretary General of SICA; Carlos Isaac Pérez, Vice Minister of Strategic Management of the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica, among others renowned specialists who will participate with presentations, keynote speeches and high-level forums.

The Regional Energy Congress will be held from august 23 to 25, 2023 at the Hotel Sheraton Presidente San Salvador.
