AES invests in communication technology to optimize service to its 1.5 million customers

Written by Denis Muñoz

The energy distributors AES CAESS, AES CLESA, AESS EEO and AES DEUSEM modernized their communications system to guarantee the reliability of the service they provide to 1.5 million clients.

During 2022 and 2023, AES El Salvador allocated US$3.3 million for the creation of a telecommunications ring to monitor its 85 electricity distribution substations in real time, thus expediting the attention and solution, in the shortest possible time, of any contingencies that may arise.

With the modernization of the communication infrastructure by means of fiber optics, the distribution companies will guarantee the reliability of the service through a monitoring system of the electric equipment that is telecontrolled.

According to AES, the remote-control technology allows all equipment installed in the distribution substations to be monitored and correctly controlled remotely and in real time, thus guaranteeing timely and agile attention to any interruption that may occur in the energy supply.

To date, this is the most relevant project, in terms of investment and number of customers benefited, that AES El Salvador's distribution companies have carried out in communications technology.

In this way, AES El Salvador continues to transform itself to adapt to the new realities of the energy sector and the changing needs of its customers, thus accelerating the future of energy.
