PriceSmart invests US$20 million in a new Club, generating 110 jobs in Santa Ana

PriceSmart, Inc. is betting on expansion and investment in the department of Santa Ana, to open a new Club, as it is a city driven by its economic dynamism and industrial growth.

The new PriceSmart Club represents a major project with an investment of over US$20 million dollars and an area of 6084 m² of construction area. 

Strategically located at final Boulevard 44 and Carretera CA-1, Urb. Sinai, Lot #4 Pol. 50, in the municipality of Santa Ana,

The PriceSmart El Salvador team has experienced a remarkable growth with the incorporation of 110 new employees, who join the professionals who are already part of the workforce in this country.

This new team will be responsible for providing exceptional service to members in order to meet and exceed their expectations when they visit the new Club.

During the construction phase of Club Santa Ana, PriceSmart indirectly hired more than 250 employees. By generating local job opportunities, this is part of their corporate DNA of bringing opportunity to the places where they operate.

"As part of our commitment to local economic development, we are pleased to report that approximately 50% of the products available at Club Santa Ana come from local sources or ventures rooted in the region. The main objective of this strategy is to promote and support small and medium-sized enterprises in Santa Ana", says Ricardo Osorio, Country manager of PriceSmart El Salvador.

Operational features

The new Club has: 

  • Total sales floor area of 3,940 square meters.
  • 284 parking spaces.
  • 38 indoor parking spaces.
  • Internal recycling program (paper + cardboard, plastic and carton), which will later include a recycling station for other types of waste.
  • Hot water and dehumidification systems using recovered heat or heat from the refrigeration system. Eliminating the need for industrial electric heaters or boilers.
  • Intelligent air conditioning system that reduces energy costs and no harmful gases for the environment.
  • Energy efficient LED lighting systems.
  • Zero-emission electric forklifts.

PriceSmart, an organization with a strong base of active Members in the country, is proud to have a community that renews its Memberships annually, enjoying the exceptional shopping experience provided by the U.S. chain. At the new Club Santa Ana, Members will have access to more than 1,900 products, ranging from food and fresh produce to non-food items in general merchandise, household goods and fashion. In addition, the Club offers additional services such as optical, bakery and ready-to-go food, further enriching the comprehensive offering for its Members.

PriceSmart and the community

Since 2009, the Aprender y Crecer program has been supporting schools in El Salvador through donations of books, didactic materials, and cleaning supplies. Currently, 15 schools, 13 in San Salvador and 2 in San Miguel, benefit from this program, through which the following receive support 8,047 children and 372 teachers. PriceSmart's operation in El Salvador also works with the Banco de Alimentos, through a corporate food donation program that includes bakery products, non-perishable foods, and fruits and vegetables that are collected weekly at the Clubs.
