The program aims to actively promote recycling and promote environmental awareness in salvadoran society, seeking the win-win principle, in which customers can take their recycling material to a safe, clean, accessible place, and receive an economic incentive in exchange for their efforts to separate their waste.

The US$19,200 investment will enable the installation of two stations in the country with a capacity of 10 tons of materials per month, one located in Santa Elena and the other in San Miguel, which will be available monday through saturday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The stations will promote active community participation in environmental protection. These stations promote the active participation of the community in the protection of the environment.

The recycling stations will receive various materials for recycling, including:

  • PET products, such as beverage bottles or plastic containers.
  • Aluminum cans, paper and cardboard.
  • Electronics, including cell phones, computers, cables, chargers, and more.
  • Non-ferrous and ferrous materials such as: window profiles, pots, aluminum and iron.

In addition, PriceSmart customers will soon be able to find magnets that will help identify the materials of each product and facilitate their respective recycling process. This improvement is also a commitment to environmental education and its practical application in the purchases made by all PriceSmart members in the country.
