Plastics in El Salvador generates 8 thousand jobs

The Ministry of Economy published through its social networks the economic impact that plastic generates in El Salvador.

According to data from the Ministry of Economy, the plastics industry generates more than 8 thousand jobs in El Salvador through more than 100 companies dedicated to this industry.

In addition, it was noted that the plastics industry increased its exports by 21% between 2021 and 2022, exporting US$525 million.

In 2024, of the US$531.1 million exported to date, US$41.8 million belong to the plastics and manufacturing sector. Generating an increase of 0.8% compared to the US$41.5 million reported in the same period of 2023.

Plastics according to the Ministry of Economy, creates investment opportunities in different areas such as:

  • Recycling and sustainable materials
  • Advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Supply chain improvement
  • Specialized packaging solutions
  • Export-oriented production units
