This is the 17th edition of Ayudando a Quienes Ayudan, a program that provides resources to finance projects implemented by NGOs, Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship.

The program, which works under a competitive funding scheme, also promotes the strengthening of people's capacities to generate adequate solutions to the different social challenges faced by their communities.

In this edition of the program and under the category of Community Development, 20 community organizations (16 ADESCOS, 2 cooperatives and 2 schools) benefited with economic funds for the development of their projects. The projects were financed through Ayudando a Quienes Ayudan for a total amount of $229,400 (in this edition two allied organizations joined with a financial support of $14,000 for two projects, PADECOM Crédito and Fundación Campo), benefiting more than 10,789 people directly and indirectly throughout the country.

The funds will be used to solve different social challenges such as the lack of sanitation in more than 6 communities, repair of perimeter walls and construction of access to main streets, equipping schools with innovative technology, rehabilitation of schools, construction and improvement of community houses, construction of a soccer and basketball court in a community house, drainage and hydraulic systems, etc.

"When communities and organizations unite under the same objective, the doors are opened to a prosperous and sustainable future. For the fundació Kriete our purpose is to support the search for solutions from local contexts and work together with different organizations that are led by the inhabitants themselves, they know the problem well and manage to organize themselves to find a solution", said Roberto Kriete, President of the Fundación Gloria Kriete.

To date, for the Community Development category, the Fundación Gloria Kriete has made a social investment of $895,000 in funds granted to 96 initiatives of high social impact, benefiting more than 90,000 people throughout the country.

"Our goal is to help develop sustainable local solutions, working together allows communities to build their own development processes, their contribution of labor and the management of additional funds promotes their autonomy, to date more than 90,000 people have benefited through the collaborative work we do with community organizations", said Juana Jule, executive director of Fundación Gloria Kriete.

The evaluation procedure for Ayudando a Quienes Ayudan is governed by the "Manual del proceso de otorgamiento de fondos", and in turn is duly audited by the auditing firm Elías & Asociados, who are guaranteeing the process of selection and delivery of funds to the winning organizations, to give greater transparency and credibility to the whole process. The organizations in the Community Development category of Ayudando a Quienes Ayudan that obtained funds in this edition of the program are:

• Asociación de Desarrollo Comunal Guachipilin de San Pedro Puxtla, Ahuachapán, who were awarded funds of US$10,500 for the completion of a 600 square meter forged paving and 120 square meters of curb and gutter on the slope of the entrance to an important neighborhood road.
• ADESCO Caserío La Palma in Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, received funds of US$15,000 for the construction of a community house.
