The open skies policy implemented by the Central Government and the projection that El Salvador has to the world under its mandate is facilitating a boom in the aviation market.

As part of this boost, a new direct route between San Salvador and Madrid, Spain, was launched by the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA).

The President of the autonomous, Federico Anliker, expressed his congratulations to the airline Avianca for the opening of its new route San Salvador - Madrid, which will operate three times a week during the high season, and will be flying from the International Airport of El Salvador on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays.

Avianca representatives, headed by Manuel Ambriz, commercial director of the airline, detailed that the route will be available from june 20 to september 20, 2023, with 3 weekly flights, with a capacity to transport 6,700 travelers per month.

The official added that it is a joy to know that salvadorans now have one more airline option to travel to Europe, and especially direct, something that many have also requested for years to be able to leave El Salvador and return to the country from the old continent.

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, explained that this also demonstrates the confidence and certainty that this country gives for the entry of visitors and for the aviation sector, this link in the value chain of the tourism sector, which is giving us more facilities to move visitors from across the ocean.

In addition, the official assured that the opening of this route will allow bringing to the country visitors from different European countries, who are attracted by the new El Salvador that the Central Government is building. "The security strategy has been key: they see a country where they can really walk safely, confident".
