Banco Industrial El Salvador and FUSALMO graduate young people from program to obtain their first job

Written by Evelyn Alas

Banco Industrial El Salvador in alliance with FUSALMO foundation graduated young people from a program that helps them obtain their first job; thanks to an agreement for the benefit of the participants who participated in the Bank Teller Training Course.

The project called "Jóvenes Creando Futuro" started last january and lasted 8 weeks. With the implementation of all the modules of the course, the participants, most of whom are residents of the Soyapango area and surrounding areas, have been provided with a set of very useful tools to improve their professional skills and thus facilitate obtaining a job in the formal sector.

This effort arose from the signing of a letter of agreement in which Banco Industrial and FUSALMO committed to work together for the salvadoran youth. In November 2022, the selection process began for 28 young people who met the requirements, but above all, had the willingness for training. This stage included interviews as well as various socialization activities and psycho-technical tests.

The objective of this alliance is for Banco Industrial to provide job opportunities in the cashier area to a group of young people in the short term; at the moment there are several young people in the selection process of which 5 will obtain a permanent position in 2023 and the rest will remain in internships for 40 hours and then transfer them to a job with a permanent position and legal benefits.

With the rest of the profiles, the bank will help to refer the best students to other banks. All the young people will be accompanied and followed up by the labor intermediary on behalf of FUSALMO.

The course began on january 9 and ended on february 27, 2023, comprising:

80 technical hours in the training area of bank teller blended learning, where Banco Industrial de El Salvador intervened in the training process by providing: lectures on banking topics, training the course instructors, enriching the curriculum with updated topics related to the current financial challenges of the sector.

40 hours of complementary training in the culture of peace and labor orientation in blended learning, where young people were enriched in topics such as: peaceful coexistence, tasks for a culture of peace, labor rights and duties, among others.

In terms of job placement, the position of teller is highly demanding despite the fact that there are many banking companies and credit unions. The challenge, as always, will be to get companies in the national market to hire young people with the skills and abilities required for the position.

Banco Industrial is a banking institution with prestige and recognition at the Central American level. For more than 11 years, it has positioned itself in El Salvador as an organization with the objective of being on the side of salvadorans and helping them to fulfill their dreams. With this alliance, it seeks to help more young salvadorans obtain a first decent job that will allow them to develop as good people to go "Always forward together".
