Assembly ratifies loans for water and MSME projects

The deputies have approved the financing to carry out the Water Sector Resilience Project in El Salvador, as part of a loan between the Ministry of Finance and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Most of the funds will be used to improve the quality and efficiency of water services in the San Salvador metropolitan area. Other programs that the loan will allow will be: the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA) will implement a non-revenue water program, replacement of pipes that have reached their useful life in specific areas.

The other financing that received the approval of the state congress was the guarantee contract that guarantees a loan between BANDESAL and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), which will support the growth of MSMEs and generate new employment opportunities.

This is a 36-month financing, extendable for additional annual periods equal to or less than BANDESAL's requirement.

The general director of Investment and Public Credit of the Ministerio de Hacienda, Marlon Herrera, also explained that the initiative will finance the economic reactivation in different sectors, improve the competitiveness and income generation of MSMEs nationwide, maintain and generate new employment opportunities, and promote the development of the country's exports.
