The head of the Defensoría del Consumidor, explained the results of the reforms applied to the Law against Usury and the Credit Card System Law, two sensitive issues for the population.

"The financial issue is central to the day-to-day life of families (...). We are making an important effort to avoid abuse against the population", said Salazar.

The official presented these achievements to the deputies that make up the Financial Commission of the Legislative Assembly.

In greater detail, Salazar explained that it was possible to return US$283,000 in favor of 397 consumers who denounced abusive charges by financial entities and commercial houses, which went against the provisions of the Law against Usury.

In addition, in the case of complaints based on the Credit Card System Law, the recovery totaled $471,628.32 in favor of a group of 8,457 users.

There are some concrete measures that represent a relief for those who contract these services, such as, for example, the non-charging of memberships and a maximum interest rate for housing loans.
