US$2.9 million in immobilized political debt to be used for the reconstruction of 15 schools

The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) began the registration and seizure of assets owned by the political institute in order to recover part of the funds diverted as aid from Taiwan for those affected by the 2001 earthquakes.

During a television interview, the minister of Finance, Alejandro Zelaya, addressed several issues including the results of the fight against tax evasion, so that according to the Attorney General, Rodolfo Delgado, the count of what is established in the request for seizure requested to the Specialized Court of Extinction of Dominion includes two properties, one located in Ahuachapán and the other the headquarters of the party in this capital, as well as a good number of vehicles belonging to the party and the seizure of US$2.9 million in political debt.

"The President announced that with the US$2.9 million immobilized from the ARENA party's political debt, 15 schools will be rebuilt", said the minister of Finance.

"The prosecutor sent us to the Ministry of Finance, in the days prior to the raid, a release  where he asked us that any disbursement of the political debt be previously communicated to them, since the FGR had initiated, and the judge had accepted the extinction of domain to recover the US$10 million from the Taiwan fund that went to the party's accounts", detailed, minister Zelaya.

The Minister of Finance also said that in the margins of public finance collection are stable, in the margins of collection has been collected by 2% as of june 30.

"We have surpassed by 2% the collection goal as of June 30, much of the opposition said that we were not going to achieve our collection goal, but there is the anti-evasion, anti-smuggling plan, giving results", he commented.
