Assembly approves amendments to the 2021 Budget Law for more than US$2 million

The deputies of the Legislative Assembly approved, with 82 votes, an amendment to the 2021 Budget Law, in the area of Housing, for the incorporation of US$2,136,043 from an agreement signed with the European Union.

Part of the budget will allocate US$1,436,043 which will be used by the Fondo Nacional de Vivienda Popular (FONAVIPO), which is part of the State portfolio, to legalize land, as well as to build and improve housing in municipalities with high poverty rates.

It will also benefit people who lost their homes, last year, due to storms Amanda and Cristobal.

"Popular housing is a need that has not been supported for several decades. We will continue legislating to bring a better life to salvadorans. These funds will be available immediately to bring relief to those who need it", said William Soriano, deputy of Nuevas Ideas.

In addition, the deputies also approved with 83 votes to add US$990,942 to the budget of the Fondo de Inversión Social para el Desarrollo Local (FISDL), the cash also comes from a donation from the European Union, which will be for the investment project Support for the eradication of poverty in El Salvador.

In addition, the deputies decided that the Ministry of Education (MINED) will receive US$256,905.00 from the Fondo Especial de los Recursos Provenientes de la Privatización de ANTEL (FANTEL) to finance 16 positions required by the institution.

The legislators also approved with 83 votes, an amendment to the 2021 Budget Law to add the referred amount of money to Education so that this task force will be in charge of the financial management of the project "FANTEL scholarship program at national level for higher education studies 2018-2022".
