Family remittances increased 7.4% to january 2022

According to the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR), El Salvador received US$552.7 million in family remittances during january 2022, registering an increase of 7.4% compared to january 2021.

Likewise, the country received family remittances from 101 countries, registering an average monthly monetary remittance of US$316, surpassing that of January 2021, whose average was US$300.

Regarding foreign trade results as of january 2022, El Salvador's exports reflect positive figures at the beginning of the year, with an amount of US$563.7 million, registering a record figure for that month.

Exports to Central America totaled US$274.1 million and represented 48.6% of the total, becoming the main destination for salvadoran goods.

Imports made by El Salvador during january 2022 totaled US$1,389.6 million, increasing 31.6% with respect to january 2021.
