Within this framework, the deputies met with the president of the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISCAFE), Carolina Padilla, to know in detail some aspects of the proposal.
Padilla emphasized that the main objective is to update the current regulatory framework regarding the acts of trade between agro-industrial sectors of coffee growing in El Salvador.
She also said that the project establishes that ISCAF will provide strategic information of the coffee market at national and international level, strengthening commercial relations in the coffee sector. In addition, it will be required for coffee commercialization operations that the buyer demands the accreditation of the inscription in the registries established in the proposed law.
"This law aims to make the internal processes that the Instituto del Café has more efficient, in addition to compiling information that supports the transparency of the coffee value chain and that the market intelligence analyses serve as a tool for decision making", explained Padilla.
The document also presents requirements for coffee exports, including the withholding of export permits by the customs service in specific cases and the correction of observations by the exporter.
The president of the parliamentary board, Ricardo Rivas, recognized the importance of supporting the proposed law to strengthen the coffee industry, which is a major contribution to the salvadoran economy and is essential for sustainable development, as the coffee park represents almost half of the country's forests.
