Salvadoran exports to Europe have increased

Written by Miguel Crespin

El Salvador maintains agreements with national and international organizations that serve to strengthen economic strategies that help position the country as an attractive market for investments and exports.

The Ministry of Economy makes efforts to provide technical assistance and support to companies, to promote the use of the agreements. This has influenced the growth of salvadoran exports to the European market during the period 2019 to 2022, by 67%, from US$167 million to US$288 million.

In order to maintain this growth, the Ministry of Economy, together with the delegation of the European Union in El Salvador, developed a seminar with the purpose of continuing to visualize the importance of having the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union to boost and promote trade between the two regions.

''We recognize the importance and potential of the agreement to be able to strengthen our export offer, but also to diversify our niches'', said the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem. She said that the number of salvadoran companies exporting to the European Union has increased, being that in 2022, 250 were registered to be able to export.
