The DC continues its work against unjustified price increases in products of the basic food basket, indicating that they are committed to protecting the pockets of salvadoran families.

Yesterday they continued with the inspection in the Municipal Market of Santa Tecla, in order to verify that there are no unjustified price increases.

The price inspection operation was led by the president of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, who explained that this measure is part of the Government's actions to protect the interests of the population, especially to safeguard the pockets of salvadoran families nationwide, in view of the crisis that recently affected Guatemala.

"In this opportunity the actions of the Defensoría, together with other State institutions, we are carrying out verifications in different points of commercialization of fruits, vegetables and greens, this is an effort in the face of the blockades that occurred at the beginning of the week throughout Guatemala, a situation that limited the supply of this product in the national market", commented Salazar.

Since last friday, the entry of trucks from different parts of Guatemala was reactivated, which supply the domestic market, only this weekend, between saturday and the early hours of sunday, more than 170 trucks have entered the country, while on friday entered approximately 400 trucks, which allows to continue supplying the domestic market.

"The internal market of Guatemala and El Salvador is being supplied; a situation in which the supply has been reestablished, it is very important to point out that we are carrying out these verifications, to pay attention and monitor prices, we want to avoid any unjustified price increase that may occur in the market", emphasized the official.
