Written by Alondra Gutiérrez

Davivienda El Salvador announces the fourth edition of the technological entrepreneurship contest Espaciotec, which aims to open more opportunities for the successful development of projects and companies that have or plan to have a technological component in their business model.

This contest is a Davivienda initiative that provides entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge to develop their projects, such as, for example, the preparation of the business plan, prototyping, testing and networking to launch it to the world.

Espaciotec's impact projection for its new edition consists of the participation of salvadoran projects through two categories:

  • Idea Development, which will adopt up to 125 projects that are in the idea stage.
  • Business Development, which will host up to 15 early stage companies. Its themes of participation are environment, education, community support, Fintech, productivity, transportation, trade, commerce, industry, leisure, tourism, gastronomy, agrotech, artificial intelligence, Big Data, internet of things, health, legal and smart cities.

Entrepreneurs will participate in a training process to be delivered through digital channels for eight weeks, as part of the adaptation to the current situation of preventing the spread of Covid-19.

This stage will be composed of sessions lectured by experts, professors, professionals and entrepreneurs recognized in their areas, who have extensive experience in innovation, entrepreneurship and technology; they will make up the " Mesa de Innovación", helping entrepreneurs to strengthen their business proposal.

The deadline for registration of entrepreneurships in Espaciotec ends on august 9th; to do so, those interested can visit www.espaciotec.com.

The training period will begin in August and will end with the “Día TEC”, an event to be held on October 23 in virtual mode, where the finalists present their project before a jury, who will determine the two winners, one for each category.

The winner of each category will receive a digital bag of US$2,500 to invest in their business, plus an Incubation process, in the case of the Ideas Category, and an Acceleration process, in the case of the Business Category. Both courses will be taught by Impact Hub.

This complements the 8-week "Espaciotec" training process, propelling entrepreneurs to the next level in their projects.
