Davivienda launches first Hackathon for university students

Davivienda's main purpose is to enrich life with integrity and as a sign of this it seeks to generate welfare and progress with the launch of its first "Hackathon for university students", which seeks to enhance innovation, skills and abilities of this segment to create a digital solution for financial transactions in the university environment.

The objective of Banco Davivienda's Hackathon 2024 is to make a call to action so that university students, making use of their creativity and experience, contribute to their development and that of their university by imagining and developing solutions that can improve aspects related to the institution.

The challenge of this project is for participants to design a value and experience offer for young university students that strengthens the digital payment ecosystem in universities. This ecosystem can include payments for university tuition and fees, cafeteria, surrounding businesses, bookstores, photocopies, parking, payment between university students, payment at events, among others.

The winners of this first Davivienda Hackathon participate to win USD$5,000 for first place, USD$3,000 for second place and USD$1,000 for third place, in addition to business skills development and real experience in the working world.

Among the requirements to participate, teams must be multifunctional and include between 2 to 5 students between 18 to 29 years old, at least one must have programming knowledge and synergies can be created between students from other universities.

Among the profiles can participate in innovation and digital transformation, engineering in Software and Digital Business, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, Strategic Design, Communication and Digital Strategy, Business Administration, Economics and marketing, Data Science (developers / programmers) and have skills and abilities in the design of Mockup, prototyping, development / programming skills knowledge of one or more languages: Android: kotlin, iOS: swift, Middleware: java, Backend (core of the bank): RPG; and others.

"With this project Davivienda will use its own methodology of Grupo Bolivar, and will also provide post-registration training to teams, accompaniment of innovation coaches and three days of final development of the prototype.

We invite university students to participate and create a solution that provides value to both students and the university”, said Ricardo Velásquez, Innovation and Strategic Planning Manager of Davivienda El Salvador.
