As part of the commemoration of International Women's Day, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Tigo El Salvador and Glasswing International organized the "Empowering Future Leaders: A Conversation in Women's Month".

The objective is to create a space for training and learning and to inspire young women in the Community Schools program of the NIDO Project: Safe Communities of USAID and Glasswing International, through conversations led by professional women from Tigo, who shared their experiences of personal and professional development.

The event was attended by 60 ninth grade and high school students from different schools in the municipality of Mejicanos and San Salvador.

During the event, the participants were accompanied by a Tigo leader to generate a close and enriching exchange between the students and the leaders of the company.

Afterwards, a discussion was held, in which Tigo representatives shared their experiences and advice with the young students to motivate them to build their life plan and project their growth into the future.

In line with our purpose of building digital highways that connect people, improve their lives, and develop communities, Tigo has made it a priority to promote the digital, financial and social inclusion of women, both inside and outside our company. We are aware that by empowering and developing more women, we are transforming their lives, their families' lives, and moving our society forward. Edgard Grande, CEO Tigo El Salvador.

These types of initiatives demonstrate the commitment of USAID, Tigo El Salvador and Glasswing International with the inclusion and promotion of women's leadership, thus contributing to the development and empowerment of women in all areas of society.

Transforming the digital world hand in hand with women's leadership

Tigo El Salvador's priority is to promote the digital, financial, and social inclusion of women, both inside and outside the company.

With its flagship program "Conectadas" they develop the digital skills and knowledge of women, training them in digital literacy and entrepreneurship. In 2023 alone, more than 1,600 Salvadoran women who participated in the program benefited.

The lives of girls and women are also impacted through the Conéctate Segur@ program, which promotes the safe and productive use of the Internet by girls, boys, young people, parents, and caregivers; as well as with Maestr@s>; Conectad@s>;, which trains teachers in the use of digital tools for the teaching-learning process.

In addition, the company has a Global Talent Acquisition Policy, which seeks the integral development of the skills of all people, as well as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) strategy that seeks to create an organization free of bias, based on respect.
