Texaco and Glasswing increase aid to students of public schools in El Salvador

Chevron, through its Texaco brand, reiterated its support for the education of children and young people in El Salvador, by continuing its Energiza tu Escuela program, which promotes learning under the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) methodology.

 

 

In 2024, six educational centers in San Salvador, Acajutla and Nuevo Cuscatlán will be able to strengthen knowledge in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, in addition to raising awareness about digital inclusion and the importance of caring for the environment.

This program is developed by Chevron through its strategic ally Glasswing International, directly benefiting 700 students from first cycle to high school, 30 teachers and 150 parents.

"We strongly believe in the power of education and its ability to transform lives and communities. We are pleased to be able to support the skills of students and teachers through our program and provide the tools to help them take advantage of the opportunities provided by today's environment", said Miguel Ramos, Texaco's country manager.

The beneficiary schools include Centro Educativo General Ramón Belloso, Centro Educativo Pablo Sexto, Centro Educativo Capitán General Gerardo Barrios, of San Salvador; Centro Educativo Pedro Pablo Castillo, of  La Libertad; Centro Educativo René Armando Arce Suárez and Centro Educativo Ingeniero Rodolfo Enrique Varela Manzano, of  Acajutla, Sonsonate.

Chevron's support to educational centers includes tools and training to encourage knowledge in the areas of STEAM, digital and environment, among others:

  • Donation of STEAM kits and training for teachers. Digital awareness workshops for students, teachers, mothers and fathers, addressing topics such as: digital citizenship, social media advocacy, cyberbullying, and digital challenges.
  • Environmental awareness workshops for students, focusing on waste reduction at home, reuse of materials, recycling, saving resources at home and at school.

  • "We are very proud to be part of this initiative (Energiza tu Escuela) to strengthen education and community awareness in our country. We believe that collaboration with the private sector is fundamental to boost the development and well-being of our communities", said Natalia Salcedo, Country Director at Glasswing.

To date, these programs have benefited more than 50,000 students and 1,200 teachers throughout the country.

  • The education support program is benefiting more than 800 people directly and approximately 4,600 indirectly.

  • For 15 years, TEXACO has been committed to social impact initiatives that contribute to integral education, facilitating access to opportunities and improving the quality of life in the communities where it operates. To date, these programs have supported more than 50,000 students and 1,200 teachers throughout the country.
