172 MSMEs led by women in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were analyzed by the Centro Regional de Promoción de la mipyme (Cenpromype), within the framework of the Program "Economic Empowerment of Women in the Northern Triangle", which is an initiative of the Organization of American States (OAS), with funding from the U.S. Department of State and META.

This study found that, in the area of technological maturity, less than half of the companies studied have a website (44%), and only 21% make sales through their web page. This indicates a significant potential for growth in the use of technology to drive sales.

There is a margin of growth in the area of digital marketing, a high percentage of the companies have devices and a presence in social networks and at least 85% advertise on the Internet.

Similarly, on the subject of exports, only 17% of the companies studied already export, while a large 76% of the companies that do not yet export are interested in doing so in the future. But, although there is a notable interest in exporting, there are challenges in terms of knowledge and experience in logistics and export regulations on the part of the companies.
