Written by Miguel Crespin

Empresa Transmisora de El Salvador (ETESAL), has put into operation a new electrical substation in Apopa, which will benefit 38,826 users, including industrialists, merchants and the general population.

"The Apopa substation is a great bet on the future of El Salvador, since this new project is strategic between the transmission lines of the Cerrón Grande and Nejapa substations. The total investment amount of this work was US$14,792,719.79", said the head of ETESAL, Edwin Núñez.

The main function is to increase the load transfer capacity of the Nejapa substation during maintenance or emergencies. This implies that, in such situations, the load can be transferred to the Apopa and San Antonio Abad substations.

"In the name of God and the development of El Salvador we inaugurate this electric energy distribution plant", said the president of the Assembly, Ernesto Castro, before cutting the ribbon that symbolized the beginning of the work at the plant of Empresa Transmisora de El Salvador (ETESAL).

The start-up of this project comes after the Banco Central de Reserva announced that El Salvador's energy exports totaled US$61.5 million in the first 10 months of the year, and according to the bank's head, Douglas Rodríguez, this sector has been one of the most dynamic in the salvadoran economy.
