The project is designed to benefit 67,114 users in the northern part of El Salvador. The investment cost was US$12 million to provide a 50 megavolt-amperes (MVA) transformer capacity and voltage levels of 115/46 kilovolts, in addition to the construction of a new 17 km transmission line from the Cerrón Grande substation.
The commissioning of this facility will help solve voltage regulation problems in the area and provide the distribution network with the capacity to absorb demand growth.
With this new substation commissioning, ETESAL closes 2023 delivering 5 projects aimed at economic development in the country.
