Written by Karla Gutiérrez

The Vice Chancellor of the Republic, Adriana Mira; together with the president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker; and the presidential commissioner for Strategic Projects, Cristian Flores; held a meeting with a delegation from South Korea, which will support our nation with a feasibility study for the installation and operation of a shipyard in the port of La Union, an area of great logistical possibilities.

This group is led by the director Sangho Ju, of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF); and Dongwon Wang, head of operations of the firm Daeyoung Engineering; entities with which we will work to make El Salvador a specialized center in the maintenance of international vessels. Likewise, we will count on their experience for the improvement of our port network.

At the meeting, the actions and the roadmap to be followed for the preparation of the study were discussed and coordinated, in view of the results that are sought to be obtained with this initiative.

"This project offers a series of opportunities to the entire maritime industry, not only in El Salvador, but also in the region and the Americas, including large companies that see our potential to be the main maintenance center for their vessels”, said Commissioner Flores.
