Meeting with value chain partners: ASESUISA/SURA reaffirms commitment to sustainability

Written by Evelyn Alas

ASESUISA recognizes the importance and value of suppliers in the supply chain, with whom it shares risks and generates opportunities to fulfill the promise of service to customers; therefore, they are permanent allies in its corporate purposes. Hence the relevance of joining efforts for sustainable development and responsible action in all areas.

ASESUISA is committed to the sustainability of the business and the planet to ensure a sustainable future for present and future generations, through four dimensions: Social, Economic, Environmental and Governance.

Among ASESUISA/SURA's strategic focuses is Social and Planetary Health, which is the framework from which sustainability is approached in Suramericana in order to contribute from this organization's fields of action to the harmony between social welfare and natural systems, altered by human activities and environmental conditions. It is a concept focused on the characterization, mitigation, adaptation and management of impacts on well-being, equity and health.

In this strategic orientation there is an indisputable element which is sustainability, as the capacity to anticipate, transform and create value in a permanent, relevant and responsible manner, to face the challenges of the environment through the management of trends and risks, emphasizing the impacts generated by human beings on planetary health in order to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the objectives of the sustainability work plan, diversity and inclusion, support for sustainability in the supply chain and the decarbonization strategy have been considered.

"At ASESUISA we are committed to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals; to this end we have focused significant efforts on the implementation of strategies that allow us to reduce the carbon footprint emissions generated by the operation of the business", said Enzo Bizzarro, CEO of ASESUISA.

With these actions they materialize their commitment to environmental sustainability and contribute to the mitigation of climate change, "We are committed to extend this purpose to all latitudes where we are, understanding that climate variability and change is a global problem that has no geographical limits and that the transversality of our sector, the insurance industry, allows us to have an impact not only in our industry but also in others", concluded Bizzarro.

A meeting of suppliers was recently held, with the participation of more than 50 allies from the supply chain of the different sectors of the industry: workshops, hospitals and goods and services.

This event reiterated the Company's commitment to provide knowledge and support to its suppliers to contribute to the sustainability of the business and the planet.

Since 2018, ASESUISA started a program to support its partners in the automotive repair shop network, which resulted in a greater adoption of sustainable practices, implementation of recycling programs and best practices. And one of the success stories that was shared at the event was that of PINTAUTO workshop, which aligned with ASESUISA's commitment, began with sustainability practices, achieving a major transformation in its facilities, infrastructure, machinery and operation.

With insurance it is possible to go further. The development of a vision that is in tune with the company's value proposition to contribute from the social purpose to what people, companies and the planet need, accelerates the commitment and ensures living in the world that is coming. In this way, ASESUISA connects with the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals.
