Both diplomats reviewed joint cooperation initiatives that benefit the Salvadoran population. The diplomats discussed the progress of the Labor Mobility Program.
The representative of the salvadoran diplomacy highlighted that, at the moment, about 8 thousand salvadoran nationals have benefited and have been able to temporarily position themselves in different companies in the North American nation. In this regard, the Foreign Minister pointed out the impact of the program among the beneficiaries through the income generated by the workers.
Thus, the amount of US$10.5 million has been used by beneficiaries mainly for housing, debt repayment, entrepreneurship and education.
El Salvador has built a Labor Mobility Program from a holistic perspective, for which significant actions are being promoted, including labor liaisons at consulates, a psychosocial support initiative for families, an ongoing fraud prevention campaign, labor rights, and support for entrepreneurs.
In this line, Chancellor Hill thanked the highest representative of USAID for the cooperation projects in support of initiatives of the salvadoran Government, which currently amount to USD$ 587 million 908 thousand corresponding to the areas of security and employment.
These agreements, which were signed in april 2021, are part of the migration prevention work, and have an extension until september 2026.
