El Salvador Airport served more than 1.7 million passengers as of june 4

The Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), informed that the institution has registered a sustained increase (income). From january 1st to june 4th, they identified an 18% increase over last year, which means that they have transported 1.7 million passengers so far in 2023.

This better performance in passenger service has been greatly influenced, among other causes, by the increase of foreign tourists who are increasingly visiting El Salvador, thanks to the new climate of total security that now prevails in the country.

He said that an airline from Belgium is interested in operating in the country, to bring cargo and passengers from Europe. This would add to the 22 airlines already operating in the country.

Likewise, the head of CEPA, Federico Anliker, explained that 10 million kilograms of imports and exports are reported to have been registered at Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador "San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez.

He also emphasized that the Port of Acajutla is the main logistic point where most of the country's exports and imports are moved and added that there is an advance of almost 85% of the container yard that will allow the mobilization of 100 thousand containers, that is to say, they will be able to move more than 350 thousand containers per year.

According to CEPA's projections, this year it is expected to surpass the 3.5 million travelers that were served during 2022, which is also reinforced with the goal of international visitors that the Ministry of Tourism has proposed to reach this year, which is estimated at 2.9 million people.
