The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Enrique Parada, delivered two tanks for storage and cooling of fluid raw milk, which will benefit 50 livestock families of the Atiocoyo Sur irrigation district, in the municipality of San Pablo Tacachico, in La Libertad.

The activity took place at the Asociación de Regantes de Atiocoyo Sur (ARAS), in the company of Mayor Francisco Portillo and the President of the Agricultural Commission of the Legislative Assembly, Ricardo Rivas.

Each refrigerated tank is designed to store 1,050 liters and thus preserve the NSO of raw milk, with which they will market at a better price the fluid that will be destined for the School Nutrition Program.

Enrique Parada said that with this the families will be able to have better prices and income for their families, going from US$0.35 per bottle, which is how it is currently marketed, to US$0.55 per bottle, the price at which it is acquired by the Central Government.

According to the General Director of Livestock, Néstor Avendaño, a diagnosis was made to ensure that certain requirements were met and to guarantee that the inputs were adequate. "We hope that they can take advantage of them and step by step we improve quality at the national level", he said.

Likewise, minister Enrique Parada assured that in the next few days the cattle nutrition program will continue with the delivery of 450 plants for the production of leguminous seeds (Cratylia argentea), to optimize cattle feed throughout the year.

This activity will directly benefit 30 small livestock farmers in the municipalities of Santiago Nonualco, San Rafael Obrajuelo and San Juan Nonualco, all in the department of La Paz.
