The Minister of Labor, Rolando Castro said in a press conference that he has found state institutions such as the Asamblea Legislativa, la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), Corte Suprema de Justicia (CSJ), Procuraduría General de la República y la Procuraduría para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos (PDDH) that are not complying with the hiring of people with disabilities.

According to Castro, if they do not hire, they would be in breach of Article 63 of the Special Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and will also be fined.

He said that in order to promote employment, together with private companies, they must set an example with the inclusion and hiring of this sector.

The Ministry started with the delivery of 25 positions to people with disabilities and assures that there are 20 private companies that are complying with the hiring established by the special law.

In addition, he said that they have encountered reactions in which there are companies that are reluctant to place a person with a disability and seek arguments that are outside the law. Likewise, the Ministry started as a form of inclusion with the delivery of 25 job positions to people with disabilities under the Labor Insertion Program, which will be placed in institutions that are supported by social organizations.

The Consejo Nacional para la Inclusión de las Personas con Discapacidad (CONAIPD) will take the necessary steps to guarantee the right to employment for the population with disabilities, as well as continue with the monitoring and supervision to ensure job stability, adaptations according to the type of disability, and accessibility.
