Salvadoran Johanna Hill is the new WTO Deputy Director General

WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has announced the appointment of Johanna Hill of El Salvador as the new Deputy Director-General.

Johanna Hill's appointment follows the departure of Anabel González of Costa Rica, who served as DGA for two years.

Hill currently serves as Managing Partner and Founder of CA Trade Consulting Group's San Salvador office. Her previous roles have included Vice Minister of Economy of El Salvador, Executive Director of the Cámara de Telecomunicaciones de El Salvador and member of the Board of Directors of Banco Azul.

She holds a master's degree in International Economic Policy from the School of Public and International Affairs at Columbia University, New York, and a bachelor's degree from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Her native language is spanish and she is fluent in english and proficient in french.

Director-General Okonjo-Iweala welcomed Ms. Hill to the WTO and said, "As a member of the senior management team, she will play a key role with me and the other Deputy Directors-General in advancing our goal of helping our members use trade as a means to raise living standards, create jobs and improve people's lives".
