The protection of workers and retirees is the main goal of the Integral Law of the Pension System promoted by the Central Government.
"This law came into force on december 30, 2022 with the objective of guaranteeing a fair and sustainable pension system for all", consigned the Instituto Salvadoreño de Pensiones.
Authorities detail that it is important to remember the options that the law provides for the population in retirement, as part of social protection.
The old-age pension is granted by the Government to people who have met the age requirements (60 years old for men and 55 years old for women), as well as the time requirements, which are 25 years saving to create their retirement fund.
Within this segment, the minimum is US$400, and the maximum is US$3,000. On this same subject, by provision of the new law, all pensions had a 30% increase since the implementation became effective. In total, the Instituto Salvadoreño de Pensiones estimates that those who have this income due to age and time worked are at least 120,244.
Those interested in initiating the process for this benefit can find the details of the process in the Institute's web page: www.pensiones.gob.sv, in the "Services" section, which can be accessed from the main page.
The pension system also covers the disability pension, which covers a total of more than 3,518 people. This applies to those who can no longer perform a job due to a health condition. Article 99 of the regulation details the requirements to apply for this support from the State.
Then there is the survivor's pension, which is received by the family members of a member or pensioner when he/she dies. It is estimated that there are at least 79,955 beneficiaries receiving these funds.
