The Ministry of Labor and Social Security announced that many employers, including municipalities, pay the legal withholding to the Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social (ISSS), but did not send the withholding of the Social Security System, affecting any retirement process to workers.

Users of the pension system have received their benefits on the established dates, with the improvements introduced by the initiative of the Central Government and approved by the Legislative Assembly.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), during its visit to El Salvador, said that given demographic trends, it is still necessary to strengthen the incentives and financial sustainability of the pension system to limit contingent liabilities and encourage the development of the capital market.
